The role will primarily focus on the FMB competence centers, specifically in 'Rural Development and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security' and the 'Data Service Center'. These centers are responsible for developing and supporting GIZ projects both domestically and internationally, providing expert advice on topics such as rural development, land governance, agricultural trade, and food security. The Data Service Center offers data services and consultancy for GIZ projects, including support for the collection, management, and analysis of geodata, which is essential for data-driven project planning and monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include updating intranet pages and knowledge repositories related to 'Remote Sensing & Geographical Information' and 'Land Governance', including the maintenance of the knowledge library. The intern will support community-based knowledge management, such as moderating MS Teams communities. They will assist in data-driven planning for new GIZ projects through data research and document evaluation, with a focus on geoinformation. The intern will also help organize professional events in the fields of geoinformation and land governance, including annual meetings, community calls, and thematic forums. Practical support will be provided in organizing and conducting training events, such as those related to QGIS and the use of geoinformation in development cooperation. Additionally, the intern will assist in establishing a geocatalog.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed a bachelor's degree in Geography, Geoinformation, Agricultural Sciences, International Cooperation, or a related field. Knowledge of current technological developments in remote sensing and geoinformation, as well as contemporary discussions on rural development and land governance, is essential. Experience in event management, public relations, and familiarity with social networks and digital innovations in development cooperation is desirable. Proficiency in geoinformation systems, cartographic representations, and common data processing programs is required. Practical experience in a developing country is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and solution-oriented, manage multiple processes simultaneously, and possess a high degree of intercultural competence, reliability, and thoroughness. Excellent written communication skills and experience in teamwork are also necessary.
Educational Background: A completed bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Geography, Geoinformation, Agricultural Sciences, or International Cooperation is required for this internship position. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a program that necessitates an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have practical experience, ideally in a developing country context. Familiarity with geoinformation systems and experience in event management or public relations would be beneficial, although not mandatory.
Languages: Fluency in both German and English is required for this position. Knowledge of French or Spanish is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for the role.
