Job Overview: The Communications Associate position at UNFPA involves supporting the organization's digital communications and branding efforts. The role requires maintaining a consistent UNFPA brand across various platforms, including websites and social media. The associate will assist in designing and formatting digital content, ensuring it is visually appealing and aligned with UNFPA's communication goals. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Communications Associate include:
Digital Communications & Branding: - Maintaining a professional and consistent UNFPA brand across websites, social media, and other online platforms. - Supporting the design and formatting of digital content to ensure a visually appealing and uniform look. - Assisting in the use of videos, graphics, and multimedia to promote UNFPA’s work effectively.
Content Creation & Storytelling: - Writing and editing newsletters, fundraising materials, and programme information documents. - Collecting and writing human interest stories that highlight UNFPA’s impact. - Developing engaging social media content, including posts, visuals, and campaign materials. - Writing and compiling reports, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with UNFPA’s communication goals.
Social Media & Event Coverage: - Managing and updating UNFPA’s social media platforms with timely and relevant content. - Providing live coverage of key UNFPA events and initiatives on digital platforms. - Supporting outreach activities, awareness campaigns, and engagement strategies.
External/Internal Communications & Knowledge Sharing: - Integrating and aligning digital content across different external and internal platforms. - Supporting collaboration between regional and country teams on communication initiatives. Expected outputs include timely and high-quality support to UNFPA and its beneficiaries, with a focus on applying an Age, Gender, and Diversity (AGD) perspective in all activities.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Communications Associate position include a strong understanding of digital communications and branding principles. Candidates should possess excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to create engaging content for various platforms. Additional Notes: The position is based in Pretoria, South Africa, which serves as the administrative capital of the country. UN Volunteers in this role will receive a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of R18340.86, a one-time entry lump sum of $400 at the start of the assignment, medical insurance, life cover, and annual leave. Volunteers will also have access to various learning platforms and will receive a one-time exit lump sum at the end of their assignment. The role is expected to be full-time, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally.
