Job Overview: The Middle East Regional Manager will serve as the primary representative of ACAPS in the Middle East, overseeing projects in Yemen and Syria. This role involves developing and implementing ACAPS' regional strategy, managing analytical workstreams, and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will lead a team of analysts and a project manager, focusing on enhancing ACAPS' presence and impact in the region. The position requires a strategic thinker with a strong operational background, capable of navigating the complexities of humanitarian analysis and fostering relationships with key stakeholders. The Regional Manager will also be responsible for identifying new opportunities for ACAPS' growth and ensuring the delivery of high-quality analytical outputs that meet the needs of humanitarian actors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic planning process for ACAPS' regional strategy in the Middle East, ensuring alignment with humanitarian principles.
Build and manage high-performing teams, providing mentorship and guidance to team members.
Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of activities within the Middle East Hub, including monitoring and evaluation processes.
Maintain strong relationships with operational and donor partners to enhance the relevance of ACAPS' analysis products.
Oversee financial management and budgeting for the Middle East region, ensuring compliance and effective resource allocation.
Regularly report on project progress, challenges, and impact to donors and stakeholders.
Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and accountability among team members.
Engage with key humanitarian partners to ensure efficient processes and relevant content in ACAPS' outputs. 1
Participate in Extended Management Team meetings and contribute to the overall strategy of ACAPS.
Required Qualifications:
MA/S or equivalent in international development, business administration, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree with additional relevant work experience may be accepted.
At least 10 years of field experience in senior management roles, preferably as a director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director or Regional Manager.
Proven experience in leading teams and operations within humanitarian contexts.
Strong understanding of humanitarian needs assessments and data analysis methodologies.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with institutional donors, particularly USAID, FCDO, and ECHO, is essential.
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory; proficiency in a regional language is an asset.
Strong emotional intelligence and coaching skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in fields such as international development, business administration, or other relevant disciplines. A Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by significant work experience in related roles. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training in humanitarian response, data analysis, and project management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant field experience, particularly in senior management roles within humanitarian operations. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading diverse teams, managing complex projects, and navigating the challenges of humanitarian contexts. Experience as a Country Director or Regional Manager is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans. Familiarity with the global humanitarian architecture and regional dynamics in the Middle East is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in a regional language is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with local stakeholders and partners effectively.
Additional Notes: This position is a national staff contract based in Amman, Jordan, with a contract duration until December 31, 2025, which is extendable based on performance and organizational needs. The role is full-time, and the successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly to various locations covered by the ACAPS Hub. The working environment promotes a collaborative culture, with opportunities for team members to work from home or other locations, fostering a balance between office presence and remote work.
