Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for evaluating existing research partnerships and identifying new potential collaborations with external institutions, organizations, and foundations. They will conduct research to map and assess these partnerships, focusing on their alignment with the ILO's research agenda for 2026-2
Interns will also identify funding needs and suggest priorities for engaging potential partners in relevant thematic research areas. Additionally, interns can expect to spend 10 to 20 percent of their time on administrative tasks, while the majority of their work will involve substantive research and analysis. They will gain exposure to various themes related to partnership building, resource mobilization, and communication, contributing to the ILO's efforts to enhance its research capabilities and outreach.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria to apply for the internship. They should not have any close relatives working at the ILO and must not have previously completed an internship at the organization. Additionally, candidates must be enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral program or have completed such a program within the year preceding their application. A practical knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory, while knowledge of other ILO official languages (French, Spanish) is considered an asset. Candidates should also possess strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to an international, multicultural, and multilingual environment.

Additional Notes: The internship is for a duration of 6 months, starting on either the 1st or the 15th of the month. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of 2450 CHF, unless they are receiving funding from another institution, in which case the ILO will cover the difference to ensure the intern receives the full amount. Interns will also receive a monthly contribution of 45 CHF towards medical insurance costs during the internship period. Candidates from underrepresented or unrepresented member states may be eligible for additional financial support for travel expenses. It is important to note that the ILO does not cover any costs related to accidents or illnesses that may occur during the internship, and candidates are responsible for ensuring they have adequate health and accident insurance coverage.
