Job Overview:
The AI Team Coordinator position is pivotal in supporting UNDP's digital transformation initiatives, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI). This role is designed to facilitate the coordination and execution of AI-related capacity-building projects, ensuring that UNDP staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to leverage AI effectively. The AI Horizon Programme, a core initiative within the Chief Digital Office (CDO), aims to enhance the organization's capabilities in AI, enabling data-driven decision-making and fostering innovation. The coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders, including UNDP leadership and external partners, to promote digital transformation across the UN system and ensure the successful implementation of AI projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The AI Team Coordinator will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including coordinating internal AI projects and capacity strengthening offers. This involves managing the internal AI working group, finalizing the AI Horizon Programme curriculum with academic partners, conducting pre-training assessments, and overseeing workshops. The coordinator will also implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to track programme progress, gather user feedback, and prepare regular progress reports for senior management. Additionally, the role includes building strategic partnerships, facilitating communication and advocacy efforts, and producing quality presentations and briefing notes for stakeholders. The coordinator will support day-to-day operations, organize meetings, and ensure timely follow-up on commitments made by the supervisor. Furthermore, the incumbent will document best practices and lessons learned, contribute to knowledge networks, and facilitate knowledge sharing within the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Public Policy, Politics, Business Administration, Technology, International Development, Communications, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two years of relevant experience will be considered. Applicants with a master’s degree are not required to have prior professional work experience, while those with a bachelor’s degree must have at least two years of relevant experience in the private or non-profit sector, particularly in digital or innovation-related roles. Experience in managing digital initiatives and advanced proficiency in office applications (MS Word, Excel, Teams) are essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Public Policy, Politics, Business Administration, Technology, International Development, or Communications. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) may be accepted if accompanied by two additional years of qualifying experience. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of digital transformation and AI initiatives within the UNDP framework.

Experience:
The level of experience required for this position varies based on educational qualifications. Candidates with a master’s degree are not required to have prior work experience, while those with a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience. This experience should ideally be in managing digital initiatives, communities, or AI-related projects, demonstrating the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and support digital products such as newsletters or software tools.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset. Proficiency in a local language may also be beneficial, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and communities.
