Job Overview:
The internship program at the ILO provides an opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience in the field of international labor standards and policies. Interns will work closely with the ILO's regional office in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, and will be involved in various projects related to information technology and user support. The internship is designed to enhance understanding of international labor issues while providing hands-on experience in the application of ILO principles and strategies. Interns will have the chance to develop their skills in administration" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">system administration, network management, and user assistance, contributing to the overall mission of the ILO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist the regional IT team in providing user support and monitoring IT assets. Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the administration of IT systems and managing IT projects while adhering to timelines and budgets.
  • Gaining skills in network management, including monitoring connectivity and analyzing network data.
  • Utilizing ITIL practices for managing user requests and providing quality IT services.
  • Engaging in real-world applications of IT knowledge within a complex IT system and network.
  • Developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills by addressing challenges in project implementation.
  • Networking with ILO staff and other interns to explore career paths in international IT fields.
  • Completing administrative tasks as required, dedicating 10% to 20% of time to these duties.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Enrollment in a Master's or Doctoral program, or completion of such a program within the past year.
  • Relevant professional experience and knowledge in information technology are advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
  • Adaptability to international work settings and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a background in Computer Science, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Security, Computer Networks, or related fields. Enrollment in a Master's program or recent completion of such a program is required to qualify for the internship.

Experience:
Relevant professional experience in IT or related fields is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in an international context.

Languages:
Proficiency in French or English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This internship is specifically reserved for candidates with disabilities. The contract duration is six months, starting on either the 1st or 15th of the month. Interns will receive a monthly allowance based on the cost of living in Abidjan, unless they have alternative funding. Travel expenses to the internship location are the responsibility of the intern. The ILO does not cover any medical or accident-related costs during the internship, and candidates are advised to ensure they have adequate health insurance. The ILO does not charge any fees during the recruitment process, and candidates should be cautious of fraudulent communications.
