Job Overview: The Financial Officer position within IFC’s Treasury Client Solutions Department is a critical role that involves client-facing transaction structuring and execution. The department is responsible for providing innovative fixed-income solutions to IFC’s clients, with a global mandate that includes derivative transactions, structured products, local currency solutions, and debt capital markets solutions. The successful candidate will join the EMEA team, focusing on markets in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Central Asia. This role requires a finance professional with a strong background in structured credit, who will be responsible for structuring and risk assessment for IFC’s structured finance investments. The individual will also contribute to enhancing the department’s analytical approach and will play a key role in IFC’s debt capital markets and local currency financing transactions, while also helping to drive business growth in the EMEA region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Financial Officer include co-leading the structuring, risk analysis, pricing, and execution of fixed income transactions for IFC’s clients. This involves working with structured products such as cash and synthetic securitization, future flow securitization, covered bonds, and portfolio guarantees. The officer will also contribute to expanding IFC’s range of solutions, including innovative structured products and local currency financing in frontier markets. Identifying business opportunities and collaborating with relevant teams, including investment departments, credit, legal, and blended finance, is essential. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, government entities, investors, and capital market firms, is also a critical aspect of the role. The officer will co-lead initiatives, contribute to policy development, provide product expertise and training, and represent the department in internal and external working groups and conferences.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, Financial Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Additionally, at least 7 years of relevant work experience in fixed income with a focus on structured finance transactions and risk assessment is required. This experience should ideally include exposure to emerging markets. A deep theoretical and practical understanding of quantitative and analytical methodologies for analyzing and pricing structured products, as well as familiarity with relevant rating agency approaches, is essential. Strong negotiation, structuring, and problem-solving skills are also necessary, along with the ability to provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an MBA or a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, Financial Mathematics, or Statistics. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of structured finance and the analytical methodologies involved in the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in fixed income, specifically focusing on structured finance transactions and risk assessment. Candidates should have a proven track record in cash and synthetic securitizations and should ideally have experience working in emerging markets, which will enhance their understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in these regions.
