Job Overview: The Logistics Cluster Coordinator plays a crucial role in leading and facilitating a well-coordinated, strategic, and effective response by participating organizations in Logistics Clusters at the country level. This position requires a strong understanding of humanitarian logistics and the ability to adapt to various emergency contexts. The Coordinator will be responsible for establishing coordination systems, collecting and sharing relevant logistics information, and ensuring efficient operations in support of partners. The role involves working closely with WFP Country Office management, the Supply Chain department, and the Logistics Cluster team at WFP Headquarters in Rome. The successful candidate will be part of a roster of logistics coordination specialists, ready to be deployed based on the specific needs of different emergency situations. Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Cluster Coordinator will lead the strategic and technical operational design and implementation of logistics coordination mechanisms in line with IASC cluster coordination guidelines. Key responsibilities include identifying common logistics gaps, facilitating access to operational logistics solutions, ensuring proper project management, and mainstreaming global themes into established practices. The Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with WFP colleagues and other stakeholders, manage inter-agency engagement, and represent the Logistics Cluster in operational coordination mechanisms. Additionally, the role involves collecting and analyzing logistics information, developing and overseeing strategic common service logistics activities, mobilizing necessary resources, and advocating for key topics to advance operations. The Coordinator will also ensure compliance with WFP guidelines and best practices, monitor funding status, and contribute to capacity-building efforts through training and workshops.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, International Relations, Crisis Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of six years of progressive professional responsibility in international humanitarian project/programme/logistics implementation is required, with at least two years in a senior position. Desired qualifications include experience in a supervisory role, exposure to the IASC Cluster system, and familiarity with national and international coordination systems. Candidates should have a strong understanding of humanitarian supply chain/logistics roles and experience in inter-agency collaboration.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, International Business, International Relations, Crisis Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related area is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian logistics and project management.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of six years of progressive professional experience in international humanitarian project/programme/logistics implementation, with at least two years in a senior position. Experience in a supervisory role and exposure to the IASC Cluster system, particularly working for or with the Logistics Cluster at global or field levels, is highly desirable. Familiarity with national and international coordination systems and roles within humanitarian supply chain/logistics is also important.
Languages: A level C qualification (proficiency or mother tongue) in one of the UN languages (preferably English, French, Spanish, or Arabic) is mandatory. Good working knowledge of English is compulsory, while proficiency in another UN language (particularly French, Spanish, or Arabic) is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The position may require deployment at short notice to areas with potentially challenging environments for a minimum duration of one month.
