Volunteers will engage in crowd mapping and data analysis to generate actionable insights that will inform decision-making processes for aid distribution and recovery planning. This remote assignment requires volunteers to utilize open data, satellite imagery, and reports from local sources to map damage, assess needs, and identify available resources. The insights generated from this work will directly assist humanitarian actors in their response efforts, making the role vital for effective disaster management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include:

• Gathering and validating location-based data related to the earthquake's impact.
• Mapping affected areas using open-source tools and platforms.
• Analyzing data to identify needs and available resources in the affected regions.
• Collaborating with other volunteers and humanitarian partners to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the data collected.
• Contributing to the development of reports and visualizations that summarize findings and insights.
• Participating in online meetings and discussions to coordinate efforts and share updates on progress.
• Ensuring that all data handling complies with ethical standards and respects the privacy of individuals and communities.

Required Qualifications:

Educational Background:
A background in fields such as geography, data science, humanitarian studies, or related disciplines is preferred. However, candidates with relevant experience and skills may also be considered regardless of formal educational qualifications.

Experience:
While prior experience in disaster response or humanitarian work is advantageous, it is not strictly required. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the role. Experience with data analysis and mapping tools will be highly beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language for communication within the organization. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Myanmar is considered a strong asset, as it can enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders.
