Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will have a diverse range of responsibilities that may vary based on their background and the specific needs of the office. Key duties include:
Media Content Development: Drafting media advisories, press releases, and news stories in both English and Arabic, ensuring they meet communication guidelines.
Research and Editorial Support: Conducting research and compiling information for social media content, often under tight deadlines.
Digital Media Management: Updating the UNIC-Cairo website and managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and LinkedIn.
Social Media Analytics: Monitoring and analyzing social media performance metrics to optimize engagement strategies.
Translation and Localization: Supporting the translation of materials between Arabic and English to ensure effective communication.
Event and Media Support: Assisting in organizing press conferences and other events, capturing media content for coverage, and supporting UNIC-Cairo campaigns and initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must provide proof of their academic status and may need to submit an official certificate later in the process.
Educational Background: Candidates should be students in their final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. This educational background is essential to ensure that interns have the necessary theoretical knowledge to contribute effectively to the UN's work.
Experience: While prior professional work experience is not a requirement for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This could include experience in media, communications, public relations, or related fields, which would enhance their ability to perform the tasks assigned during the internship.
