Job Overview: The Online Volunteer position involves preparing various outputs over a 10-week period. The primary responsibilities include drafting texts for social media posts, project briefs, and factsheets. The Online Volunteer will work under the guidance of the communication and advocacy focal point, collecting information from project teams to create engaging and informative content. This content aims to raise awareness about UN-Habitat's programs and priorities, targeting both international partners and relevant stakeholders within Afghanistan. Duties and Responsibilities: The Online Volunteer will be responsible for the following duties:
Collecting information from project teams to draft communications and advocacy materials.
Creating news stories for websites and social media posts.
Drafting texts for project briefs and factsheets.
Revising and refining drafts based on feedback from the communication and advocacy focal point.
Ensuring that all content is clear, engaging, and informative.
Raising awareness about UN-Habitat's programs and priorities among the target audience, which includes international partners and stakeholders in Afghanistan.
Collaborating with team members to ensure alignment with organizational goals and messaging.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences. Familiarity with social media platforms and experience in drafting advocacy materials are highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate an understanding of humanitarian issues and urban development, particularly in the context of Afghanistan. The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team is essential, as is a commitment to the mission and values of UN-Habitat.
Educational Background: A background in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of urban development and humanitarian issues, particularly as they relate to Afghanistan.
