Job Overview:
The Climate Change Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Management Team responsible for the development and implementation of the UNOPS Climate Change Strategy and Roadmap. This position is based at UNOPS Headquarters in Copenhagen and reports to the Climate and Infrastructure Specialist. The Analyst will be involved in mainstreaming climate mitigation and adaptation strategies across UNOPS projects and operations, ensuring that climate considerations are integrated into all relevant activities. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including consultants and internal departments, to facilitate the successful execution of the Climate Strategy. The Analyst will also be responsible for preparing technical briefs, organizing climate-related events, and contributing to the development of knowledge products on climate issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Climate Change Analyst will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Providing technical support for the integration of climate mitigation and adaptation strategies into UNOPS projects and operations.
  • Reviewing deliverables from consultants and providing constructive feedback to enhance quality.
  • Conducting research and gathering climate-related data to inform the Climate Change Strategy.
  • Preparing communication materials to convey technical climate information to non-technical audiences.
  • Organizing and facilitating climate-related events such as workshops and webinars.
  • Coordinating responses to requests from consultants and stakeholders.
  • Managing project documents and ensuring proper filing and accessibility.
  • Supporting the preparation of progress reports and monitoring documents related to the Climate Strategy implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an Advanced University Degree or a Master's Degree in fields such as Climate Change, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, or related areas. Alternatively, a first-level University degree with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master's Degree. Knowledge of Google Workspace tools is essential, and experience in resilient infrastructure planning and project management is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include an Advanced University Degree or a Master's Degree in Climate Change, Energy, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Engineering, Political Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, or related fields. A Bachelor's degree in these areas, combined with two additional years of relevant experience, may also be considered acceptable.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in climate change, environmental issues, renewable energy, international relations, or sustainable development. Candidates with more experience may be preferred based on their academic credentials. Familiarity with Google Workspace is necessary, and experience in project management and stakeholder engagement is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a multilingual environment.

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is IICA-1 at the ICS-09 level, with a duration of 1 year, renewable based on organizational needs, funding availability, and performance.
