Job Overview:
The Global Business Development Adviser – Climate is a pivotal role within NRC, focusing on driving new business development strategies and enhancing funding partnerships specifically related to climate adaptation in humanitarian responses. This position requires the adviser to engage with various stakeholders, including donors, funders, and financial institutions, while collaborating closely with NRC’s Country, Regional, and Head Offices to optimize funding opportunities. The adviser will play a crucial role in developing value propositions for private sector engagement and will support NRC in securing complex climate adaptation and mitigation grants and contracts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing business development processes, mapping the funding landscape, and strengthening internal collaboration with donors and partners to support NRC's climate adaptation ambitions. This role also involves advising global teams and country offices on developing expertise in private sector program management and fostering relationships with relevant organizations to strategically position NRC for partnership opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Global Business Development Adviser will lead the establishment of business development processes, which includes mapping the funding landscape and identifying key actors. The adviser will develop NRC’s positioning and influence in the climate adaptation sector and strengthen internal collaboration with donors and potential partners. Responsibilities include supporting and advising the Global team on Climate and Environment, assisting country offices in enhancing their expertise in private sector design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and management, and prospecting and networking with relevant organizations, including commercial sectors and financing institutions. The adviser will also engage with government and parliamentary initiatives, identify investment areas for innovative programming, and work closely with the Corporate Team to seek potential donors and partners at both global and country levels. The role requires a proactive approach to developing partnerships and securing funding opportunities that align with NRC’s strategic goals.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the humanitarian-development sector, with at least five years specifically in Business Development. A proven track record of successful bidding for commercial/service contracts and/or complex grants is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience leading business development strategies, regional fundraising, and partnerships, along with in-depth knowledge of institutional donors’ strategies, priorities, and compliance guidelines. Candidates should demonstrate experience in strategic approaches to business development and have worked in complex and volatile contexts, preferably with previous experience in the Middle East. A commitment to collaborative work with technical and operational colleagues within a matrix structure is crucial, as is experience in delivering learning and development as part of quality improvement and capacity building.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in a field related to business development, international relations, humanitarian studies, or a similar discipline. Advanced degrees or specialized training in climate adaptation, environmental science, or related fields may be advantageous and enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in the humanitarian-development sector, with a strong emphasis on business development. Experience in successfully leading business development strategies and securing funding from institutional donors is critical. Familiarity with the complexities of working in humanitarian contexts and the ability to navigate the challenges associated with climate adaptation and mitigation efforts are also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly in languages relevant to the regions where NRC operates, which could enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
