DRC has been active in Cameroon since 2018, responding to the humanitarian needs of refugees from the Central African Republic and vulnerable Cameroonians, and has expanded its operations to address various crises affecting the region.
Job Overview: The HR and Admin Assistant position is based in Yaoundé and is crucial for supporting the execution of HR tasks and maintaining staff information in accordance with DRC's administrative procedures, local policies, and national legislation. The role involves a variety of HR functions, including recruitment support, contract management, and staff file maintenance. The assistant will work closely with the HR Officer and other team members to ensure that HR processes are efficient and compliant with organizational standards. This position is particularly important as DRC continues to expand its operations in Cameroon, necessitating a strong HR support system to manage the growing workforce effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HR and Admin Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: drafting staff and casual labor contracts, updating personal staff files, managing leave requests, creating staff accounts in Dynamics, submitting monthly HR reports, supporting recruitment processes, filing recruitment documents on SharePoint, advertising vacancies, processing residence permits and visa requests for expatriates, collaborating with logistics for organizing seminars and meetings, managing incoming and outgoing mail logs, taking minutes during events, assisting with HR audits, preparing monthly payroll, archiving CNPS and tax declaration documents, and supporting staff training and development initiatives. The assistant will also perform any other HR functions as assigned by the HR Officer or Head of Support Services (HoSS).
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or HND with intermediate level training in Human Resources. A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in HR and Administration within an NGO or commercial sector is required. Proficiency in MS Office applications is essential, along with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent team and interpersonal skills.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Human Resources or a related field. Intermediate level training in HR practices is also necessary to ensure that the candidate is equipped with the foundational knowledge and skills needed for effective HR management.
Experience: The position requires at least one year of relevant work experience in the field of Human Resources and Administration, preferably within the NGO sector or commercial environment. This experience should include hands-on involvement in HR functions such as recruitment, contract management, and employee relations, providing the candidate with a solid understanding of HR processes and practices.
Languages: Fluency in both written and spoken English and French is mandatory for this position. This bilingual requirement is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse populations and partners.
Additional Notes: This position is offered on a national contract basis, exclusively reserved for Cameroonian nationals, with an employment period of 12 months. The salary and benefits are categorized under NM I
