Job Overview: The Partnership Specialist will be instrumental in expanding and managing strategic partnerships to enhance resource mobilization, donor engagement, and advocacy efforts for UNMAS Somalia. This role involves identifying funding opportunities, coordinating outreach initiatives, and ensuring that the objectives of UNMAS Somalia's programs align with the priorities of its partners. The Partnership Specialist will work closely with various stakeholders, including government counterparts, international partners, and private sector actors, to foster collaboration and contribute to the long-term sustainability and impact of the program. The position requires a proactive approach to developing and implementing partnership and program development plans that align with UNOPS/UNMAS strategic goals, while also addressing the humanitarian-development-peace nexus in Somalia.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Partnership Specialist will be responsible for several key functions:
Developing a comprehensive partnership and program development plan that aligns with UNOPS/UNMAS strategic objectives, including analyzing the national and regional development landscape and identifying potential partners.
Monitoring humanitarian and development trends to identify collaboration opportunities and providing feedback on partnership agreements to enhance the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
Establishing and nurturing partnerships with UN agencies, international organizations, governments, and NGOs to diversify project opportunities.
Participating in inter-agency coordination meetings and contributing to UN common planning processes.
Implementing knowledge management practices to enhance project effectiveness and sharing best practices within the team.
Drafting agreements and contractual documents for new projects and coordinating technical and financial requirements for project proposals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes developing and executing partnership and program development plans in international development settings, establishing partnerships with various organizations, and project proposal development. Experience in project and program management, particularly in post-disaster or emergency contexts, is desired. Familiarity with Google Suite and web-based management systems is an advantage. Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent is required, along with 5 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 7 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Experience: The position requires relevant experience in developing and executing partnership and program development plans, particularly in international development contexts. Candidates should have experience in project proposal development and establishing partnerships with UN agencies, international organizations, and other stakeholders. Experience in project and program management is desired, as well as familiarity with working in international organizations and emergency contexts. Knowledge of Google Suite and web-based management systems is considered an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, encompassing speaking, reading, and writing skills. Proficiency in one or more additional official UNOPS languages is desirable, which may enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract type for this position is a Staff Contract at the P3 level, with an initial duration of one year, subject to renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
