Job Description
Job Posting Organization: The Aviation Data and Analysis (ADA) Section is part of the Air Transport Bureau, which is responsible for delivering results aligned with ICAO's Strategic Objective of Economic Development of Air Transport. The section focuses on the collection, standardization, and dissemination of aviation data, including managing the ICAO Statistics Programme and supporting various economic analyses related to air navigation capacity, infrastructure planning, and environmental protection. The organization operates globally, providing support to member states and various committees within ICAO.
Job Overview: The Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Aviation Data and Analysis Section by providing technical and administrative support for the ICAO Statistics Programme. This includes the collection, validation, analysis, and dissemination of aviation statistics, as well as assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief of the ADA Section and will be expected to operate independently on assigned tasks. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for the collection, validation, analysis, processing, and dissemination of aviation statistics, ensuring data quality and consistency.
Assist in maintaining the ICAO Data Plus tool and ensure that statistical data is up-to-date.
Provide administrative support for the ICAO Statistics Programme, including tracking reporting forms and maintaining communication with State focal points.
Prepare statistical tables, charts, and presentations to meet user requests and assist in the preparation of the Annual Report of the Council.
Support the development of new business analysis tools and ensure that they are validated and maintained.
Coordinate activities related to the dissemination of decision support systems and assist in the preparation of documentation for various meetings and conferences.
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in processing and analyzing statistical data. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly the MS Office suite, is required. Desirable qualifications include a diploma of college studies or a first-level university degree in business administration, data management, or a related field, along with experience in using Macros, SharePoint, SQL, and/or .Net.
Educational Background: The position requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. A diploma of college studies (DEC) or a first-level university degree in business administration, data management, or a related field is desirable.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in processing, analyzing, and presenting statistical data. Experience with computer applications and software, as well as preparing correspondence and reviewing documents, reports, and presentations, is essential.
Languages: Fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English are mandatory. A working knowledge of any other language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is considered desirable.
Additional Notes: This is a locally-recruited position, restricted to Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents of Canada, and applicants with a work permit. The position is fixed-term for an initial period of three years, with the first year being probationary for external candidates. ICAO staff members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting their status as international civil servants and may be assigned to various activities or offices within the organization. The net base salary for this position is CAD $45,127 per annum.
