Job Overview:
The Logistics Team Leader position is crucial for ensuring that the logistics operations within the NRC Mozambique program run smoothly and efficiently. This role involves overseeing the logistics team, ensuring compliance with NRC policies and donor requirements, and conducting regular field visits to monitor logistics activities. The Logistics Team Leader will be responsible for analyzing logistical support data, preparing reports, and ensuring that all logistical functions are aligned with project implementation goals. The position requires a proactive approach to resource management, ensuring that all deliverables are achieved within set budgets and timelines. The Logistics Team Leader will also play a key role in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and promoting improvements within the logistics function.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Team Leader will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Ensuring adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements.
  • Conducting regular field visits for logistics compliance checks and providing necessary training to staff.
  • Leading the logistics team to ensure quality support for project implementation, analyzing logistical data, and preparing appropriate reports.
  • Supporting the administration of resources to achieve deliverables within budget and timelines.
  • Preparing and developing logistic reports as required by the Area and Country Office.
  • Supporting the development of SOPs as requested.
  • Ensuring proper filing of all support documents according to Securing Supporting Documentation (SSD) SOP.
  • Supporting line managers with logistics procedures and providing training related to logistics.
  • Coordinating and implementing NRC’s systems and procedures for market analyses. 1
  • Managing fleet operations, ensuring proper vehicle utilization, and adherence to MOVCON SOP. 1
  • Maintaining an updated asset register and ensuring compliance with the Logistics Handbook. 1
  • Managing stock in compliance with NRC’s Logistics Handbook and ensuring timely replenishment of supplies. 1
  • Conducting physical verification of assets and stock in coordination with the Finance department.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Logistics Team Leader position should possess the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree or related diploma in logistics or supply chain management.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, particularly in humanitarian sectors.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Knowledge of local private and public services networks.
  • Proficiency in English and Portuguese, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with the language of Cabo Delgado, such as Makonde, Emacua, Kimuani, or Suaili, is considered an added advantage.

Educational Background:

Additionally, knowledge of local languages such as Makonde, Emacua, Kimuani, or Suaili is considered beneficial and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with local communities and partners.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may involve working in a challenging and insecure environment. The Logistics Team Leader will be expected to demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills, as well as the ability to empower and build trust within the logistics team.
