Job Overview: The Head of Programs plays a crucial role in supporting the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director in the development, implementation, and monitoring of activities within the country. This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all programs run by Solidarités International in the assigned country. The Head of Programs will face specific challenges such as strategic orientation, coordination, operational monitoring, and effective management of the program team. The role also involves reporting, communication, and representation of the organization. In the initial months, the Head of Programs will focus on launching activities, recruiting and training the program team, and ensuring that current activities are monitored and implemented according to established plans and technical requirements. Additionally, the Head of Programs will coordinate the design and writing of new proposals and contribute to the development of the country’s intervention strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Head of Programs will be responsible for a variety of duties including: supporting the coordination team and base teams in launching activities; ensuring the recruitment, induction, and training of the program team at the coordination level; following up on current activities in the country with Field Coordinators (FCs) and ensuring that monitoring tools are utilized effectively; coordinating the design and writing of new proposals; contributing to the development of an intervention strategy for the country; managing and supervising the program team; ensuring compliance with donor policies and guidelines; and representing the organization in various forums and meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in humanitarian or development studies, social sciences, management, or a related discipline. Additionally, they should have a strong understanding of donor policies and guidelines, particularly with organizations such as ECHO, BHA, or CDCS. Experience in countries with stringent administrative regulations and in coordination with local authorities is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong reporting and writing skills, previous experience in working with NGOs, and a proven ability to manage partnerships and negotiations.
Educational Background: A Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as humanitarian or development studies, social sciences, or management is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the management of programs in challenging environments.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3-4 years in similar positions. This experience should include working in complex environments and managing programs effectively, as well as a proven track record of success in similar roles.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of a local language would be considered an asset, enhancing communication and engagement with local communities and stakeholders.

The role is based in East Africa, and the organization offers a competitive salary starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, along with a monthly per diem of USD 75

Living conditions are generally good at the capital level, although they may be more challenging in field locations.
