Job Overview: The Deputy Regional Director for the Eastern and Southern African (ESAF) Office plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the organization's initiatives in the region. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and direction for the ESAF Office, ensuring alignment with the organization's overall mission and goals.
Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects in the region.
Manage and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, donors, and community leaders.
Represent the organization at regional and international meetings, advocating for the needs and priorities of the region.
Monitor and report on program performance, ensuring accountability and transparency in all operations.
Identify opportunities for resource mobilization and partnership development to enhance program impact.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in senior management roles within international development or humanitarian organizations.
Strong understanding of the socio-economic and political context of Eastern and Southern Africa.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building effective teams.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and implement complex programs effectively.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in international development, public administration, social sciences, or a related field is required. A Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree is preferred and may enhance the candidate's profile.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in international development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Experience working in Eastern and Southern Africa is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in the region.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in French or other regional languages is considered an asset and will be advantageous for the role.
