Job Overview:
The Diversity and Inclusion Officer will play a crucial role in facilitating Inclusive Community Engagement Workshops aimed at enhancing the capacity of local organizations to apply principles of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Accountability to Affected Persons (AAP), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and Do No Harm in their community work. This position requires fluency in the Sinhala language, as the workshops will be conducted in Sinhala and English. The officer will be responsible for developing culturally adapted training materials, delivering workshops, and ensuring that the training aligns with the principles of inclusivity and safety. The role demands a strong understanding of local contexts and the ability to engage diverse groups effectively, ensuring that all participants feel valued and included in the learning process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The officer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of workshop sessions and participant feedback.
  • Knowledge Management: Develop and adapt training materials that incorporate GEDSI, AAP, PSEA, and Do No Harm principles, ensuring they are culturally relevant and accessible.
  • Curriculum Development: Create a comprehensive training manual that includes session outlines, objectives, and facilitation guides.
  • Workshop Delivery: Facilitate three interactive workshop sessions in Sinhala and English, employing engaging methods such as role plays and group discussions.
  • Inclusive Learning Environment: Foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all participants, adhering to the Do No Harm principle.
  • Resource Distribution: Develop and distribute support materials, including handouts and quick reference guides, to reinforce learning.
  • Follow-Up: Provide recommendations for additional learning opportunities to sustain participants' progress.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Community Development, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience in delivering training or working on GEDSI, AAP, PSEA, or Do No Harm principles in the Sri Lankan context is required. Experience in developing training materials for diverse audiences and working with civil society organizations is desirable. Strong facilitation and communication skills, along with expertise in adult learning principles, are essential for this role.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Community Development, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have a foundational understanding of the social issues and frameworks relevant to the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, particularly in delivering training or working on initiatives related to Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Accountability to Affected Persons (AAP), or Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). Experience in the Sri Lankan context, with a demonstrated cultural sensitivity, is crucial. Proven ability to develop and adapt training materials for diverse audiences is also highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Sinhala is mandatory, as the role requires effective communication of complex concepts in the Sinhala language. A working knowledge of English is desirable, enabling the officer to engage with a broader audience and facilitate bilingual workshops.

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA), specifically at the Local ICA Specialist 8 level. The initial contract duration is for 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
