Job Overview: The Diversity and Inclusion Officer will play a crucial role in facilitating Inclusive Community Engagement Workshops aimed at enhancing the capacity of local organizations to apply principles of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Accountability to Affected Persons (AAP), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and Do No Harm in their community work. This position requires fluency in Tamil and involves designing and delivering a comprehensive training program in both Tamil and English. The officer will be responsible for developing culturally adapted training materials and employing interactive methodologies to engage a diverse group of participants, ensuring that the workshops are informative, practical, and relevant to the local context.
Duties and Responsibilities: The officer will be responsible for several key functions, including:
Reporting: Documenting and reporting on workshop outcomes and participant feedback.
Knowledge Management: Ensuring that knowledge gained from the workshops is captured and shared effectively.
Curriculum Development and Adaptation: Adapting existing global and UNOPS training modules to suit the civil society audience, including developing training materials that incorporate local contexts and culturally relevant case studies.
Workshop Delivery: Facilitating three interactive workshop sessions in both Tamil and English, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Support Materials and Resource Distribution: Creating and distributing support materials such as handouts and quick reference guides to reinforce learning and provide ongoing resources for participants.
Follow-Up Recommendations: Offering suggestions for additional learning or follow-up sessions to sustain participants' progress and knowledge retention.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Community Development, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience in delivering training or working on GEDSI, AAP, PSEA, or Do No Harm principles in the Sri Lankan context is required. Experience in developing and adapting training materials for diverse audiences in multiple languages is desirable, as is experience working with civil society organizations and local communities.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Community Development, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have a solid understanding of the social dynamics and challenges faced by marginalized groups, which is crucial for effectively delivering training and facilitating workshops.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, particularly in delivering training or working on issues related to Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion, Accountability to Affected Persons, or Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. Experience in the Sri Lankan context, with demonstrated cultural sensitivity, is essential. Proven experience in developing and adapting training materials for diverse audiences is also desirable, as is experience working with civil society organizations and local communities.
Languages: Fluency in Tamil is mandatory, as the position requires the ability to convey complex concepts effectively in Tamil. A working knowledge of English is desirable, as the training will also be conducted in English, and materials may need to be adapted for English-speaking participants.
Additional Notes: The contract type for this position is an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA), specifically at the Local ICA Specialist 8 level. The contract duration is for 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
