Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Design and Editorial Layout Volunteer at UNFPA Iraq is focused on enhancing the visual presentation of critical reports that communicate essential findings and recommendations. The volunteers will play a crucial role in formatting and designing the layout for two significant documents: The Study Report, which has a tight deadline of completion by the end of next week, and The MHPSS Manual, which has a more flexible timeline of three to four weeks. The role requires adherence to UNFPA's branding and communication guidelines, ensuring that the final products are not only visually appealing but also effectively convey the intended messages. Volunteers will work closely with the communication team to ensure that the reports meet the organization's standards for quality and professionalism.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected Online Volunteers will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Format and design the layout for The Study Report and The MHPSS Manual, ensuring that both documents are visually engaging and professionally presented.
  • Maintain consistency in typography, color schemes, and overall aesthetics throughout the reports.
  • Apply UNFPA’s visual identity and branding guidelines to all design elements.
  • Collaborate with the UNFPA communication team to incorporate feedback and make necessary revisions to the layouts.
  • Ensure that the final versions of the reports are easy to navigate and clearly communicate key messages to the intended audience.
  • Deliver the completed reports within the specified timelines, adhering to the quality standards set by UNFPA.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this volunteer position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Proven experience in graphic design and editorial layout, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Familiarity with UNFPA's branding and communication guidelines is a plus, but not mandatory.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant training or coursework that demonstrates their skills and knowledge in design principles and practices.

Experience:
While specific years of experience are not mandated, candidates should have a demonstrable track record of successful graphic design projects. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in a similar context is advantageous but not required.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reports will be produced in English. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus, as it may enhance communication with local stakeholders and understanding of cultural nuances in design.
