Job Overview:
The intern will support the UNDP Sustainable Energy Hub (SEH) in its mission to enhance energy access and accelerate the transition to renewable energy. This role involves conducting research on energy access, just energy transitions, and resilience in crisis contexts. The intern will contribute to strategic communications and knowledge management, playing a vital role in advancing outreach efforts through visual storytelling, social media management, and multimedia production. The position requires a proactive and enthusiastic individual who can effectively communicate SEH's mission and advocate for sustainable energy initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's key functions include developing high-quality multimedia content for social media and knowledge products, managing SEH's social media presence, supporting website updates, and creating visual materials for publications. Specific duties include:
  • Developing engaging social media content (graphics, animations, videos) for platforms like LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • Assisting in implementing social media strategies and campaigns, including tracking engagement and analytics.
  • Creating infographics, illustrations, and branded materials for SEH's knowledge products and promotional content.
  • Updating SEH's website with news and publications, ensuring accessibility to knowledge resources.
  • Supporting video content creation and editing using tools like Premiere Pro and Canva.
  • Drafting press releases, blog posts, and outreach materials to highlight SEH's activities.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; be in the final year of a bachelor's degree in these disciplines; have recently graduated with a relevant degree; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, social media management tools, and have experience in graphic design and multimedia content creation.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in fields such as Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or Journalism. The internship is open to those in postgraduate programs, final-year undergraduate students, or recent graduates, provided they start the internship within one year of graduation.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience creating multimedia content for social media and marketing campaigns, showcasing the ability to translate information into engaging visuals. Hands-on experience in graphic design, branding, and motion graphics is essential, along with familiarity in social media content creation and management. Experience in website design and knowledge management systems is also beneficial, as is an understanding of sustainable development and energy access communications.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required. Fluency in other official UN languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and audiences.

Additional Notes:
The internship will report to the Director of the UNDP Sustainable Energy Hub. Interns are responsible for their own equipment and internet access when working remotely. A stipend may be provided to cover basic expenses, and interns will accrue sick and annual leave. Medical insurance is the intern's responsibility, and UNDP will not reimburse any medical costs. There is no expectation of employment with UNDP following the internship, and the organization has a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and discrimination.
