Job Overview: The Adolescents’ Skills Development Officer position at UNICEF is designed to contribute to the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of the Basic Education and Adolescent Development (BEAD) program in Uganda. This role focuses on enhancing the skills of adolescents and young people, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, through innovative training programs that integrate social innovation and entrepreneurship skills into the education system. The officer will work closely with government stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, to ensure that the training programs are effectively integrated and institutionalized. The position requires a proactive approach to support the scale-up of social innovation and transition to earning pathways, ensuring that adolescents are equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in the modern economy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the Adolescents’ Skills Development Officer include providing technical support for the integration of social innovation and entrepreneurship skills training into the formal and non-formal education systems, particularly at the secondary and TVET levels. The officer will assist in the institutionalization of transition to earning pathways, including the implementation of the National internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme and the roll-out of online skills development platforms. Additionally, the officer will monitor and assess the effectiveness of the training programs, produce donor reports, and support the organization of advocacy events. The role also involves facilitating partnerships with various stakeholders and managing relationships with institutional contractors to ensure the successful implementation of the program.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Adolescents’ Skills Development Officer position should possess a strong understanding of education systems and youth development, particularly in the context of Uganda. They should have experience in program implementation and monitoring, as well as a background in social innovation and entrepreneurship. The role may require travel within Uganda, and candidates should be prepared for the challenges of working in potentially remote and underserved areas.
