Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer - Visual Content Creator position at UNICEF South Africa is designed for a skilled individual who will produce visual materials that support UNICEF’s mission in the country. The role emphasizes the importance of effective communication through visual storytelling, particularly in the areas of Partnerships and Fundraising, Education, Health, Child Protection, Nutrition, Innovation, and Water and Sanitation. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Communication Specialist, contributing to various projects that require creativity and a strong understanding of UNICEF's objectives. This position is crucial for enhancing UNICEF's visibility and engagement with stakeholders through compelling visual content.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer include creating campaign visuals for donor acquisition and engagement, developing donor-focused infographics that communicate UNICEF’s impact, and designing presentations for fundraising pitches and donor meetings. Additionally, the volunteer will design fundraising materials such as donor appreciation certificates, impact reports, and social media graphics. General communications support involves designing brochures, invitations, and reports to advocate for UNICEF’s initiatives, creating visual storytelling content that simplifies child rights issues, and developing infographics for advocacy campaigns. The role also includes creating social media visuals optimized for engagement on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn, supporting the development of visual content strategies for online fundraising, and assisting in producing multimedia assets. The volunteer will manage multiple design projects, ensuring timely delivery and integration of feedback, and will participate in team discussions to contribute creative ideas.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong graphic design skills, proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and a solid understanding of visual communication principles. They should have experience in creating engaging visual content for various platforms and audiences, as well as a good grasp of branding and marketing strategies. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential. A proactive attitude and a commitment to UNICEF's mission are also required.

Educational Background:
A degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or training in design software and visual communication will also be considered. A strong portfolio showcasing previous design work is essential for application.

Experience:
The position requires prior experience in graphic design or visual content creation, ideally within a non-profit or humanitarian context. Experience in fundraising or advocacy-related projects is a plus, as is familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of producing high-quality visual materials that effectively communicate messages and engage audiences.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within UNICEF. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in South Africa, would be advantageous and could enhance the candidate's ability to connect with diverse communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position based in Pretoria, South Africa. The selected candidate will receive a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of R 22926.08, a one-time entry lump sum of $400 at the start of the assignment, medical insurance, life cover, and annual leave. Volunteers will also have access to all learning platforms and will receive a one-time exit lump sum upon completion of the contract. The role is full-time and requires the volunteer to be familiar with the local living and working context.
