Job Overview: The Education Administrative Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF Romania's education initiatives. This position involves providing day-to-day assistance to the education team, focusing on enhancing access to quality pre-university education for all children. The assistant will engage in various tasks, including data collection and analysis, training and capacity building, advocacy, resource development, and reporting. The role is designed to ensure that educational projects are effectively implemented and that the needs of vulnerable children are addressed. The assistant will work under the supervision of the Education Specialist, contributing to the overall mission of UNICEF to strengthen education systems and promote inclusive practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a range of tasks, including:
Data Collection and Analysis: Assisting in gathering and analyzing educational data at both national and European levels to assess project impacts and identify areas for improvement.
Training and Capacity Building: Supporting the education team in preparing and conducting training sessions for various education stakeholders.
Advocacy and Awareness: Helping organize and implement advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about educational issues.
Resource Development: Assisting in the creation and distribution of educational materials to support project implementation.
Reporting and Documentation: Preparing reports and documentation to track project progress and outcomes.
Additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support the education team's objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset. They should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, particularly in relation to children's rights and education. Proficiency in data analysis tools and experience in educational settings will be advantageous. Additionally, candidates should be adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or a related field is required. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in education or child development will be preferred. Relevant certifications in project management or data analysis may also be beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in administrative support, preferably within an educational or non-profit context. Experience working with vulnerable populations or in international development settings will be considered an asset. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and programs is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Romanian is mandatory, and proficiency in English is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken by marginalized communities in Romania, will be considered a plus.
Additional Notes: This position is a National UN University Volunteer role, which includes a monthly living allowance of approximately RON 4202, an entry lump sum payment of USD 400, and an exit allowance of approximately RON 583.66 for each month served. Medical and life insurance coverage is provided for the duration of the assignment. UN Volunteers accrue 2.5 days of annual leave per completed month, with provisions for learning leave and sick leave. The role is designed to support a secure standard of living in line with United Nations standards, and the allowances are not considered compensation for services rendered.
