Job Overview:
The intern will support the Regional coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Coordination Team in Latin America and the Caribbean within the UNEP FI Secretariat Team. The primary focus will be on assisting the team in managing relationships and communications with members and key stakeholders in the region. This role involves promoting the exchange of information, learning, and best practices, as well as supporting the implementation of sustainability commitments such as the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB), Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI), and Net Zero Alliances. The intern will coordinate and communicate with internal global teams, regional consultants, and other partners, adapting daily responsibilities based on their background and the internship period.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties may include, but are not limited to: assisting with the organization and coordination of meetings, preparing minutes, follow-ups, presentations, and other materials, including translations into Spanish and/or Portuguese; supporting communications for events, webinars, trainings, and other key activities in the region; and assisting with the rollout of various regional projects. The intern will also be expected to engage in tasks that enhance the effectiveness of the UNEP FI's initiatives and contribute to the overall mission of promoting sustainable finance.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Preferred areas of study include economics, political sciences, sustainability, environmental studies, development studies, business administration, and finance. Some experience in communications is considered an asset. Proof of enrollment or graduation date must be provided if selected for this position.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. It is essential to demonstrate how the candidate meets the educational criteria and to provide proof of enrollment or graduation as part of the application process.

Experience:
No professional work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. The application must include an explanation of how the candidate meets this criterion, along with any relevant coursework or skills that would benefit the United Nations during the internship.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this internship, oral and written fluency in both English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of Portuguese is desirable, as it may enhance communication with stakeholders in the region.
