Job Overview:
The Medical Assistant position at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Amman, Jordan, involves providing essential support in health assessment programs for migrants. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission or Chief Migration Health Officer and will be responsible for various tasks related to the reception and processing of migrants. This role requires flexibility as the Medical Assistant may be assigned to different subunits, including the call center or reception and data processing unit. The primary goal is to facilitate the health assessment process, ensuring that migrants receive the necessary information and support throughout their journey. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate records, managing data, and ensuring effective communication between migrants and medical staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Call Centre Duties: - Provide information to migrants regarding health assessments via phone. - Register migrants in the IOM database and schedule medical appointments. - Maintain daily statistics related to health assessments and contribute to customer satisfaction evaluations.
  • Reception and Data Entry Duties: - Explain the registration process to applicants and check their identity. - Enter biodata of applicants into the appropriate platform and manage medical forms and consent documents. - Receive and process completed medical examination forms and ensure quality checks. - Prepare and package medical files for mobile migration health assessment missions. - Transmit completed medical documents to partners and maintain accurate records of all communications. - File incoming and outgoing correspondence related to medical issues and manage financial documentation. - Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a University Degree with at least two years of relevant working experience, or a Secondary School Diploma with at least four years of relevant experience. A certificate in IT or data entry is considered an advantage. The ideal candidate should have experience in data entry, customer care, and familiarity with medical terminology. Previous experience with NGOs or international organizations is also beneficial. Knowledge of data analysis tools such as Power BI and programming languages like SQL is a plus, as well as experience with Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs).

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a University Degree or a Secondary School Diploma, depending on the level of experience. A degree in a relevant field such as health sciences, information technology, or social sciences is preferred. Additional certifications in IT or data management are advantageous and can enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of relevant working experience for those with a University Degree, or four years for those with a Secondary School Diploma. Experience in a busy call center or data entry environment, preferably within a medical institution, is essential. Familiarity with customer care practices and medical terminology will be beneficial. Previous work experience with NGOs or international organizations is also an advantage, as it demonstrates an understanding of the operational context in which IOM operates.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for all applicants, along with a working knowledge of at least one additional UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish. Fluency in both English and the local language (Arabic) is required, both orally and in writing, to effectively communicate with migrants and staff.
