Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UNICEF, established in 1946, is a United Nations agency dedicated to promoting the rights and well-being of children worldwide. With a mission to ensure that every child has the opportunity to survive, develop, and thrive, UNICEF operates in over 150 countries, employing approximately 20,000 staff members. The organization focuses on addressing the needs of the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, advocating for their rights and equitable access to essential services. UNICEF's work is guided by the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, emphasizing the importance of equity in all its programs and operations.

Job Overview:
The Online Volunteers will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's U-Report initiative, which empowers youth to voice their opinions on issues that matter to them. This position involves developing communication and promotional materials for the U-Report platform and website, ensuring that the content is engaging, youth-friendly, and participatory. Volunteers will collaborate closely with the Education (Adolescent Development and Participation - ADAP) and Communication teams to create impactful outreach materials that resonate with young audiences. This flexible role allows volunteers to work remotely and on their own schedule, providing them with valuable experience in digital content creation and youth engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will have distinct responsibilities based on their roles. Volunteer one will focus on design support, which includes creating four social media visuals to promote U-Report, reviewing and validating three U-Report polls, and ensuring that the chatbot text is engaging and clear for youth audiences. Volunteer two will concentrate on content development, which involves writing two blog articles (700-1000 words each) for the U-Report website, highlighting key insights and youth perspectives, and preparing pitch materials for introducing U-Report to potential partners. Both volunteers are expected to coordinate closely with the ADAP team and participate in discussions via Microsoft Teams to ensure alignment and effectiveness in their deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong creative skills, particularly in graphic design and content writing. Experience in developing outreach materials for youth engagement, familiarity with social media platforms, and an understanding of youth issues are essential. Volunteers should be able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and have excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with UNICEF teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, marketing, graphic design, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant coursework or experience that demonstrates their ability to create engaging content and materials for youth audiences.

Experience:
Volunteers should have prior experience in graphic design or content creation, particularly in contexts related to youth engagement or social issues. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in educational settings is a plus, as it will enhance their understanding of the target audience and the objectives of the U-Report initiative.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and materials will be developed in this language. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those spoken by youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is considered an asset and may enhance the effectiveness of outreach efforts.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position that allows for flexible working hours and remote engagement. Volunteers will receive a certificate from UNICEF upon completion of their assignment, recognizing their contributions and enhancing their professional profiles. The role is designed to provide valuable experience in communication, outreach, and networking within UNICEF's programs.
