The intern will work under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Global Coordinator for Leave No One Behind, contributing to research, data collection, and the implementation of flagship programs aimed at addressing the needs of marginalized populations. The intern will engage in a variety of activities, including supporting the development of evidence-based communication materials, coordinating with partners, and documenting lessons learned. The internship aims to enhance the intern's skills and capacity in areas related to UNFPA's mandate, providing a beneficial learning environment through periodic progress meetings and a structured work plan.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of activities that support the Leave No One Behind unit's objectives. Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in data collection and research focused on marginalized groups to identify barriers to sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Supporting the development of advocacy materials that promote the inclusion of marginalized groups in policies and programs.
Coordinating with partners to implement UNFPA's core programs, providing logistical support, and monitoring progress.
Documenting and sharing lessons learned, maintaining a resource database, and drafting knowledge products.
Participating in knowledge-sharing events and contributing to joint advocacy initiatives.
Attending meetings and preparing briefing materials to support UNFPA's partnerships aimed at advancing rights and choices for all.
Required Qualifications: To be eligible for the internship, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (master's or higher), or in the final year of a first university degree program (bachelor's or equivalent), or have recently graduated with a university degree.
No professional work experience is required, but some experience with development agencies, including volunteer work, is desirable.
Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of other UN languages is considered an asset.
Strong analytical and writing skills are essential, along with initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work harmoniously with diverse teams.
Educational Background: Applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements at the time of application:
Enrollment in a postgraduate degree program (master's or higher).
Enrollment in the final academic year of a first university degree program (bachelor's or equivalent).
Recent graduation with a university degree (as defined above) and the ability to start the internship within one year of graduation.
Enrollment in a postgraduate professional traineeship program, undertaking the internship as part of this program.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for participation in the internship program, some experience working with development agencies, including volunteer roles, is preferred. Previous involvement in projects related to the Leave No One Behind approach is also desirable, as it demonstrates familiarity with the issues and challenges faced by marginalized groups.

Interns do not receive a salary or remuneration from UNFPA; however, they may receive a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses if not financially supported by an institution.
