Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNFPA is crucial for providing reliable and safe driving services to the Representative, Deputy Representative, high-ranking UN officials, and visitors. The role requires a high level of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, as well as excellent knowledge of protocol and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security issues. The Driver will report to the International Operations Manager and is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. This position is not just about driving; it involves ensuring the safety and timely arrival of passengers, managing vehicle maintenance, and assisting with administrative duties as needed. The Driver will play a key role in supporting the organization's mission by facilitating the movement of personnel and ensuring that all transportation needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: driving office vehicles for the transport of UNFPA staff, officials, and visitors; delivering and collecting mail and documentation; meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport and managing visa and customs formalities when required; staying informed about traffic, road conditions, and security issues to ensure safe and timely arrivals; managing all aspects of vehicle maintenance, including conducting minor repairs, cleaning, and arranging for major repairs and services; keeping daily vehicle logs and assisting in the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and history reports; tracking insurance and tax formalities; acting as a translator in the local language for official passengers when necessary; guiding and coaching junior drivers as appropriate; and assisting CO staff with general administrative duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have at least three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Additionally, candidates should have knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills. Skills in minor vehicle repairs are also required. The ideal candidate will exemplify integrity, demonstrate commitment to UNFPA and the UN system, embrace cultural diversity, and be adaptable to change.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is completed secondary level education. This foundational education is essential for understanding the responsibilities and duties associated with the role of a Driver within the UNFPA framework.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant work experience as a driver, particularly in an international organization, embassy, or within the UN system. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record and familiarity with the operational protocols of international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in French is required for this position, as it is the primary language of communication in Senegal. Additionally, fluency in English is highly desirable, as it facilitates communication with international staff and officials.
