Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that has been operational for over 40 years. The organization focuses on providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters, addressing their basic needs for food, water, and shelter. SI is particularly dedicated to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, which is a leading cause of death globally. The organization operates in 26 countries and employs around 3,200 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and volunteers. Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator serves as the primary representative of Solidarités International in the designated area of action, specifically in Zahle. This role involves adapting SI's strategic objectives to meet the humanitarian needs of the local population and ensuring that programs are implemented effectively with the necessary resources and in accordance with SI's standards. The Field Coordinator is responsible for managing the base's activities autonomously, maintaining effective communication with local authorities, and overseeing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security management. The position faces challenges such as geographical expansion, increased donor engagement, and staff management, particularly following recent emergency responses. In the initial months, the Field Coordinator will focus on ensuring sound project implementation for existing grants, shifting operational focus towards the Northern Bekaa region, and establishing clear roles and responsibilities within the staff management framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Act as the main representative of SI in the area of action, ensuring effective communication with local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Manage the base's activities autonomously, ensuring that programming aligns with SI's strategic objectives and humanitarian needs.
  • Oversee security management and ensure the safety of staff and operations.
  • Implement and monitor ongoing projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and SI standards.
  • Facilitate the geographical expansion of SI's operations, including the establishment of a sub-office in Ras Baalbak.
  • Manage staff effectively, providing clear roles and responsibilities and addressing any turnover challenges.
  • Engage with local political actors to reinforce access and collaboration in the Northern Bekaa region.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring financial accountability and resource allocation.
  • Address any challenges that arise during project implementation and develop solutions to overcome them.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • At least 2 years of experience in similar positions, demonstrating relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Proficiency in security management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong staff and people management capabilities.
  • Budget management and general management skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address challenges effectively.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in humanitarian studies, international relations, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in project management or humanitarian response may be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should possess a minimum of 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 2 years in a similar role. This experience should include managing projects, staff, and budgets in challenging environments, as well as engaging with local authorities and stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered a strong asset. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The position is a short-term contract with a duration of 6 months, starting as soon as possible. The role is full-time and based in Zahle, Lebanon. Compensation includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 3080, a monthly per diem of USD 750, and coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. Expatriates will receive an insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. A system of breaks is implemented, allowing for time off every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked.
