Job Overview: The Protection from Violence Officer will primarily focus on the effective delivery of services to individuals affected by violence, ensuring a safe and supportive environment in compliance with NRC policies, guidelines, and standards. This role involves implementing and managing the Protection from Violence project, which includes working closely with individuals and communities to provide necessary support, resources, and advocacy. The officer will be responsible for the technical implementation of the Core Competency (CC) project, ensuring that all activities align with the established guidelines and standards. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly in the West Bank, with a focus on Hebron and surrounding neighborhoods. The officer will also engage in advocacy efforts to promote the rights of affected populations, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Protection from Violence Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Implementing protection case management and individual protection assistance (IPA) in accordance with NRC guidelines, which involves conducting intake assessments, creating and implementing client-centered case plans, and providing timely follow-ups.
Offering psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support and referrals as necessary to individuals in need.
Identifying cases of adults at high risk of harm and rights violations, excluding Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence cases.
Reporting weekly and monthly achievements and challenges to the Protection from Violence Coordinator.
Preparing procurement or payment requests for material assistance in line with case plans and ensuring that all project documents are collected and saved both offline and online using Office 365, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
Participating in mapping exercises and assessments to identify the locations and needs of vulnerable populations, utilizing participatory data collection tools and methodologies.
Coordinating with potential service providers, including governmental, non-governmental, and private entities, to enhance the provision of assistance and referral mechanisms in accordance with safe referral standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and the capacity to work independently while prioritizing tasks under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential. A high level of written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic is required. Additionally, candidates should have a solid understanding of human rights and protection issues, particularly concerning vulnerable individuals, and demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding principles.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should hold a technical diploma or degree in social work, human rights, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of protection work and the needs of affected populations.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in implementing social work and case management support is required, preferably within a humanitarian context. Candidates should have at least two years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly with international organizations, which will provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out the responsibilities of this position. Previous training in counseling and psychosocial support concepts is strongly preferred, as it will enhance the officer's ability to provide effective support to individuals in crisis.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory, with advanced proficiency required for both written and verbal communication. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Tulkarem, West Bank, and is classified as Grade (05) Step (01). The contract duration is for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on the needs of the position, funding availability, and performance. The role is full-time, and the salary and benefits are aligned with the West Bank Duty Station standards.
