Job Overview:
The Protection from Violence Officer is tasked with the direct implementation of Civilian Self Protection (CSP) activities. This role involves leading conflict and risk assessments, conducting workshops, and building the capacity of community groups. The officer will work closely with at-risk individuals and communities to identify protection risks, provide tailored support, and strengthen community-based protection mechanisms. The position is crucial for ensuring the safety and dignity of affected populations while upholding protection standards. The officer will facilitate community self-protection activities, conduct safety mapping, and participatory risk assessments, and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including partner agencies and community leaders. Regular field visits will be conducted to monitor protection situations and report incidents, contributing to the overall safety and well-being of the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection from Violence Officer will be responsible for a variety of key tasks, including: facilitating community self-protection activities in collaboration with local leaders and volunteers; conducting safety mapping and participatory risk assessments to identify protection threats; performing regular field visits to monitor protection situations and report incidents; maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders; utilizing standardized data collection tools to gather information on protection risks; supporting the maintenance of incident databases; contributing to needs assessments and design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design; ensuring the application of the Age, Gender, and Diversity (AGD) approach; producing monthly reports; and overseeing the achievement of targets for protection activities according to NRC and donor requirements. The officer will also assess and document ideas for technical improvements and program development options, ensuring safe and inclusive programming.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Law, Humanities, Peace and Conflict studies, or a relevant qualification. Additionally, at least 3 years of experience in implementing Protection Case Management and community-based protection programs in humanitarian settings is required, particularly in Cox's Bazar and Bashan char. Experience with Civilian Self-Protection (CSP) activities and programming is essential, along with demonstrable technical expertise in the assessment, design, and delivery of CSP programming. Previous training in protection risk reduction and/or protection of civilians is also necessary, as is experience in information data management related to protection. Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are required, along with an understanding of the rights and protection issues of Rohingya Refugees being an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, Law, Humanities, or Peace and Conflict studies. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of protection issues and the humanitarian context in which the officer will operate.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in implementing protection programs, particularly in humanitarian settings. Candidates should have a strong background in community-based protection initiatives and experience working with vulnerable populations, especially in areas affected by conflict or disaster. Familiarity with the specific context of Cox's Bazar and the Rohingya crisis is highly advantageous.

Languages:
Proficiency in both Bangla and English is mandatory for this position, with excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of the Chittagonian language is considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, with a contract duration of 12 months. There are two positions available, and the role involves approximately 80% travel within the program area. The salary for this position is set at 75,716 BDT per month, according to NRC’s Salary Scale, and includes a comprehensive benefits package such as group insurance for staff and dependents, psychosocial assistance, festival bonuses, and various types of leave.
