Job Overview: The International Humanitarian Nexus Coordinator will play a crucial role in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of UNFPA's humanitarian response in the Philippines, particularly in Region V (Bicol). This position requires maintaining collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including national and local government entities, non-government organizations, civil society, and other UN agencies. The Coordinator will lead the UNFPA Humanitarian Response team and provide technical guidance to implementing partners, ensuring that the humanitarian response aligns with UNFPA's strategic objectives. The role also involves addressing urgent needs arising from natural disasters and conflicts, focusing on restoring health services, providing protection and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support, and ensuring targeted assistance for vulnerable groups. The Coordinator will report directly to the Assistant Representative and work closely with the Country Representative to achieve the organization's goals in humanitarian settings.
Duties and Responsibilities: The International Humanitarian Nexus Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including: providing programmatic support and quality assurance for ongoing humanitarian responses; representing UNFPA in inter-agency meetings and consultations; supporting the coordination of SRH and GBV clusters; leading project formulation, implementation, and evaluation; ensuring adherence to international technical standards; conducting regular monitoring and assessments; preparing external situational reports; leading resource mobilization efforts; documenting lessons learned; and undertaking field travel to crisis-affected areas as needed. The Coordinator will also be responsible for strengthening partnerships with government and civil society organizations, ensuring effective communication and collaboration in humanitarian response efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in medicine, public health, international development, social sciences, gender/GBV, or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of international professional experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) or gender-based violence (GBV) is required, with a strong knowledge of one area and familiarity with the other. Candidates should have practical experience in programming related to SRHR and GBV in humanitarian and post-conflict settings, as well as experience in developing and delivering training components. Strong leadership, facilitation, and teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to establish harmonious working relationships in a multicultural environment. Excellent computer literacy is also required.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as medicine, public health, international development, social sciences, or gender/GBV is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively address the complex issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as gender-based violence in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of international professional experience in the fields of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) or gender-based violence (GBV). This experience should include a strong understanding of gender issues in development, particularly in relation to SRHR and GBV, as well as practical experience in programming within humanitarian and post-conflict recovery settings. Experience working in the Philippines or the Asia-Pacific region is considered an added advantage, as it demonstrates familiarity with the local context and challenges.
Languages: Fluency in written and oral English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or the populations being served. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with diverse stakeholders and ensuring that the organization's messages are conveyed clearly and effectively.
