The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. They work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. Headquartered in Bonn, Germany, UNV has around 150 staff members at headquarters, and 8,500 UN Volunteers deployed in the field.

Job Overview:
The Partnership & Mobilization Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the Country Coordinator in increasing the volume of UN Volunteers in Ukraine. This position is vital for ensuring efficient program operations, which include financial management, procurement, and volunteer management support. The associate will work closely with UN partners to promote the value of UN Volunteer assignments and enhance the overall effectiveness of volunteerism in the region. The role requires a proactive approach to building partnerships, identifying volunteer placement opportunities, and contributing to the strategic objectives of the UNV programme in response to the ongoing humanitarian needs in Ukraine. The associate will also be responsible for collecting data and best practices to support partnership meetings and external presentations, thereby enhancing the visibility and impact of UNV's work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnership & Mobilization Associate will undertake a variety of tasks under the direct supervision of the Country Coordinator. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the Programme Analyst in maintaining and strengthening relationships with UN partners to ensure a clear understanding of UNV’s mandates and the value of volunteer assignments.
  • Contributing to business intelligence on UN agencies and identifying opportunities for diversifying partnerships to increase volunteer assignments.
  • Identifying volunteer placement opportunities and collaborating with UN entities to maximize volunteer presence.
  • Assisting in establishing relationships with potential UN clients and local development actors to enhance program outcomes.
  • Supporting data collection on UNV programme outcomes for use in partnership meetings.
  • Assisting in the design of mobilization proposals for Special Initiatives and joint UN programmes.
  • Encouraging serving UN Volunteers to advocate for volunteerism and document their experiences.
  • Managing the recruitment process of UN Volunteers and ensuring efficient volunteer management.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records for all UN Volunteers and monitoring their contractual status. 1
  • Providing administrative support to the Programme Analyst, including event management tasks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. A demonstrated understanding of volunteerism and its impact on development is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience in partnership building, program management, and data analysis. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies is also required. Additionally, candidates should exhibit adaptability, creativity, and professionalism in their approach to work, along with a commitment to the values of the United Nations.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the UN system and the role of volunteerism in development.

Experience:
A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience in partnership building, program management, or volunteer management is required. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully managing projects and fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for organizing their own accommodation. The contract duration is specified in the vacancy announcement, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability and performance. This is a full-time position, and the volunteer will receive a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 2076 to cover living expenses. Additional allowances include a one-time entry lump sum of USD 400 and an exit allowance of USD 101.78 for each month of service. Medical and life insurance coverage is provided for the duration of the assignment, along with various leave entitlements, including annual leave, learning leave, and sick leave.
