Job Overview:
The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day implementation of activities within the Protection Unit. This position involves assisting with the organization and execution of various project activities, including awareness-raising initiatives on safe migration pathways. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing targeted communication materials, engaging with local authorities, and fostering partnerships with civil society organizations. Additionally, the Project Assistant will monitor project activities, draft reports, and provide logistical support for events and trainings. This role requires a proactive approach to community engagement and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of project objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities related to safe migration pathways.
  • Organize and facilitate events, training sessions, workshops, and focus groups to promote project objectives.
  • Develop communication and outreach materials on safe migration, human trafficking, and smuggling of migrants.
  • Ensure project visibility aligns with IOM guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Engage with local authorities and civil society to promote partnerships and community involvement.
  • Collect and analyze migration data and information to support evidence-based policies and practices.
  • Monitor project activities at both capital and field levels, ensuring alignment with IOM's vision.
  • Draft reports and project-related documents, including donor reports and meeting minutes.
  • Travel to project locations as necessary to provide support and ensure effective project implementation. 1
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners. A background in communication, design, and production of visibility materials is advantageous. Knowledge of IOM's financial rules and regulations, as well as human rights and protection issues, is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate intellectual acuity, attention to detail, and analytical abilities, along with a commitment to ethical standards and professionalism.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in social science, Public Administration, Economics, International Relations, or a related field is required, along with three years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a school diploma and five years of relevant experience will also be considered. Educational qualifications must be from accredited universities recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Candidates should have experience working with government, non-government, or international organizations in the implementation of development projects. Specific experience in migration-related initiatives, particularly in awareness-raising, community engagement, and capacity building, is essential. Experience in organizing trainings, events, and workshops, as well as in administrative roles involving document management and reporting, is also required. Previous experience with IOM is considered an advantage.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Bangla is mandatory. Knowledge of IOM's official languages, which include French and Spanish, is a plus. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
