Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's duties will include supporting the development and implementation of communications activities for the IRP, as well as handling administrative tasks. Specific responsibilities may involve regularly updating UNEP and IRP websites, the UNEP Intranet, and entrance screens. The intern will draft articles and posts for UNEP platforms and IRP social media channels, conduct desktop research for reporting and outreach activities, and assist in organizing meetings and events. Additionally, the intern will attend meetings, draft minutes, and follow up on action items as necessary. They will also compile inputs into briefing notes and format/edit documents according to established protocols, and support the Division office in finalizing and formatting PowerPoint presentations. Furthermore, the intern will lead and coordinate the organization of briefing sessions for other interns in the Industry and Economy Division.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications at the time of application: a) be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or c) have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. This ensures that candidates possess the necessary academic background to contribute effectively to UNEP's work.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a graduate program or being in the final year of an undergraduate program. Candidates who have recently graduated are also eligible, provided they start the internship within a year of graduation. This educational requirement is designed to attract individuals who have a solid foundation in environmental studies, communications, or related fields, which will be beneficial for the tasks they will undertake during the internship.
