The organization aims to build partnerships with civil society, governments, and educational institutions to promote awareness and understanding of this historical issue. The UN has a global presence, with operations in numerous countries, and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
Job Overview: The Public Information Intern will work closely with the TST team to support various outreach initiatives. This role involves conducting research on topics related to the transatlantic slave trade and its legacies, drafting and editing content for the UN's website and social media platforms, and assisting in the organization of events and lectures. The intern will gain hands-on experience in public information and outreach strategies while contributing to the UN's mission of promoting human rights and historical education. The internship is designed to be full-time, requiring 35 hours per week, but can be adjusted to part-time or hybrid arrangements based on the intern's needs. The expected duration of the internship is between four to six months, starting on June 9, 2024.

The intern will work under the supervision of a Public Information Officer and will be expected to collaborate effectively with team members.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as journalism, communication, media studies, filmmaking, international relations, or a related area. While professional work experience is not required, a relevant field of study is essential. This includes students in their final year of a bachelor's program, as well as those enrolled in master's or doctoral programs. Proof of enrollment or completion of the degree will be required during the application process.
Experience: While no prior professional work experience is necessary for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. This may include projects, volunteer work, or other experiences that demonstrate an understanding of public information, outreach, or related fields.
