Job Overview: In the role of Supply Chain Team Leader (Fleet Team Leader), you will operate under the guidance of the Support Services Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise the fleet team members and manage the area fleet in alignment with the DRC Operational Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and organizational guidelines. This position requires a proactive approach to overseeing fleet operations, ensuring that all activities related to vehicle maintenance, fuel management, driver management, and fleet utilization are conducted efficiently and effectively. You will be tasked with ensuring compliance with safety standards, legal obligations, and organizational policies, while also continuously monitoring fleet performance to identify areas for improvement. The role demands strong leadership skills to foster a culture of professionalism and accountability within the fleet team, ensuring that all drivers are well-informed about legal requirements and safety policies.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your duties and responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of fleet management. You will oversee and coordinate daily fleet operations, which include vehicle maintenance, fuel management, driver management, and fleet utilization. You will ensure the timely and efficient procurement of goods and services related to fleet management, while adhering to organizational rules and budgetary constraints. Monitoring compliance with safety standards, vehicle registration, insurance requirements, and other legal obligations will be a critical part of your role. You will continuously evaluate fleet performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures as necessary. Additionally, you will prepare fuel tracking sheets and relevant reports to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of fuel usage. Providing strong leadership to the fleet team will be essential, as you will be responsible for fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will also ensure that all drivers are familiar with DRC's safety policies and legal requirements related to road safety and accidents, and that they understand the procedures to follow in case of an accident.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must possess a minimum of 2 years of fleet management experience, with at least 1 year of that experience in humanitarian organizations. A good command of the English language, both verbally and in writing, is essential. Proven management skills and competence in people management are required, along with excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and SharePoint. Attention to detail, strong planning, and organizational skills are critical for success in this role. Additionally, a valid driving license with at least 6 years of driving experience is mandatory.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a relevant field. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of supply chain operations and fleet management within a humanitarian context.
Experience: Candidates should have a proven track record of fleet management experience, particularly within humanitarian organizations. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required, with at least 1 year specifically in a humanitarian setting. This experience should demonstrate the ability to manage fleet operations effectively and lead a team in a challenging environment.
Languages: A good command of the English language is mandatory for this position, both in verbal and written communication. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but English is the primary language required for effective communication within the organization.
Additional Notes: This position offers an open-ended contract with a 3-month probation period. The role is classified under Band G-Management, and the start date is as soon as possible. The duty station for this position is Kharkiv, Ukraine. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national employees, which can be referenced on their official website.
