Job Overview:
The position of Individual Contractor for the Social Policy Section (SPS) within the Gender, Poverty and Social Policy Division (GPSPD) of the ECA is designed to support the implementation of social protection projects and activities. The contractor will work closely with the SPS to align with ECA’s strategic directions and core functions. The role involves providing administrative support, conducting research, and facilitating meetings that are crucial for the preparation of the Second World Summit on Social Development. The contractor will play a vital role in ensuring that the division's objectives are met through effective project management and coordination of activities that promote social inclusion and equitable development in Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Individual Contractor will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties including: performing office management and administrative support functions with minimal supervision; assisting in the organization and servicing of meetings convened by the SPS; conducting research and compiling background materials for meetings; managing logistical arrangements through the Umoja system, including travel, visa applications, and conference room bookings; processing the recruitment of consultants; maintaining effective communication within the division and with other divisions; ensuring timely distribution of official documentation; arranging travel and accommodations for staff; preparing conference rooms and checking equipment; responding to correspondence and inquiries; managing calendars and schedules; utilizing SharePoint for content management; and performing any other duties as assigned by the Section Chief.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in business administration, international relations, international economics, law, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of five years of experience in research, information compilation, and technical data analysis in social development or related areas is required. The ability to perform administrative tasks efficiently and effectively is essential, along with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a first-level university degree in relevant fields such as business administration, international relations, international economics, or law. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of social policy and development issues that the ECA addresses.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in conducting research and compiling information across areas of social development. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage projects, coordinate activities, and provide administrative support in a professional setting, particularly within international organizations or governmental agencies.

Languages:
Fluency in English or French is mandatory as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
