Job Overview:
The Project Officer will operate under the guidance of the Project Manager, focusing on the SWEET project, which aims to empower women and girls in the carpet industry in Giza. This role involves monitoring and following up on project activities, ensuring quality deliverables in alignment with the Country Strategy. The Project Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and reporting on project activities, maintaining effective communication with local partners and stakeholders, and ensuring that the project meets its objectives in a gender-sensitive and inclusive manner. The position requires a proactive approach to support the day-to-day implementation of the project, coordinating with field teams, and preparing reports for both internal and external stakeholders. The Project Officer will play a crucial role in linking target beneficiaries with stakeholders critical to the project's success, ensuring that activities are delivered on time and within scope.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Officer's duties include:
  • Supporting the implementation of the SWEET project by coordinating project activities and ensuring timely delivery of outputs.
  • Monitoring project progress and preparing comprehensive reports for stakeholders.
  • Maintaining effective communication with local partners to ensure quality delivery of project activities.
  • Designing and implementing project activities in line with the detailed implementation plan.
  • Facilitating workshops and training sessions for beneficiaries to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager and team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Engaging with community members and stakeholders to promote project goals and gather feedback.
  • Ensuring that all project activities are conducted in a gender-sensitive and inclusive manner.
  • Documenting lessons learned and best practices throughout the project lifecycle. 1
  • Participating in regular team meetings and contributing to strategic discussions regarding project implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A solid understanding of gender issues and experience in community engagement are essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a dynamic work environment. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies is highly desirable, along with a commitment to the values and mission of Plan International.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, gender studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or related areas will be considered an advantage. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of the challenges faced by women and girls in development contexts.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management, preferably in the development or humanitarian sector. Experience working with women's empowerment initiatives or gender-focused projects is highly desirable. Familiarity with the local context and challenges faced by women in Egypt, particularly in the carpet industry, will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the project area. Proficiency in English is also required, as it will be necessary for reporting and communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local communities served by the project.

Additional Notes:
This position is a contract role until December 31, 2025, and is based in Greater Cairo. The Project Officer will report directly to the Project Manager of the SWEET project.
