Job Overview: The Education Project Manager will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of high-quality education projects in Chad, particularly in response to the recent influx of refugees due to the conflict in Sudan. This position requires a dynamic and motivated individual who can ensure that education projects are designed with a gender-sensitive approach and are responsive to the socio-demographic needs of the affected populations. The manager will oversee the implementation of educational programs, ensuring high quality and cost-effectiveness while targeting the most vulnerable participants. Collaboration with various stakeholders, including local educational staff and other humanitarian organizations, is essential to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of educational interventions. Regular field visits will be conducted to monitor project progress and adapt strategies to meet local needs effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Project Manager will be responsible for several key duties, including: ensuring that education projects are based on a gender-sensitive approach and relevant socio-demographic analyses; implementing programs with a focus on high quality and cost-effectiveness; collaborating with other key competencies for assessment, analysis, and implementation; conducting training needs assessments and systematically strengthening the capacities of local educational staff; providing regular progress reports on activities, expenditures, procurement, and staffing to the supervisor and area manager; representing NRC in sector coordination meetings, emergency meetings, clusters, and working groups at the area level; organizing project progress evaluation meetings in collaboration with the education specialist and MEL manager; contributing to the development of the macro-strategy and logical framework for NRC's education program in Chad; assisting in the preparation of proposals, concept notes, and reports related to education in emergencies, accelerated learning programs, and youth education using innovative approaches; and ensuring the availability of quality partnership plans and relevant agreements and supporting documents for collaboration with local partners.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a BAC+4 level qualification or equivalent in Education or a related field. A minimum of three years of experience as a project manager in a humanitarian or recovery context is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of project cycle management, particularly in implementation and monitoring, evaluation, and learning. Strong personnel management skills and a commitment to capacity building are essential. Familiarity with the education context in Chad and/or education in emergencies is crucial. Experience in mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS) within educational interventions is an advantage, as is experience in alternative education programs and youth education. Proven results related to the responsibilities of the position and knowledge of personal leadership skills are also required.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a minimum educational qualification of BAC+4 or equivalent in Education or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage educational projects in a humanitarian context.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience as a project manager in humanitarian or recovery settings. This experience should include a strong background in project cycle management, particularly in the implementation and monitoring phases, as well as experience in capacity building and personnel management. Candidates should also have documented results related to their responsibilities in previous roles, demonstrating their ability to deliver successful educational interventions in complex environments.
Languages: Fluency in French, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic and/or English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with diverse stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of project implementation.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Adré, Chad, with a contract duration of 9 months, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability. The role may require up to 60% travel. The salary will be determined according to NRC's grade 8 salary scale, along with corresponding contractual conditions.
