Job Overview: The Energy Audits Consultant position is integral to the Green Energy Recovery Programme in Ukraine, specifically aimed at conducting energy audits in public buildings such as schools, hospitals, and kindergartens. The consultant will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and the guidance of the Renewables Specialist. The primary function of this role is to evaluate energy consumption patterns, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to enhance energy efficiency in public facilities. The consultant will be responsible for producing comprehensive energy audit reports that outline findings and suggest actionable measures for energy savings. This position is crucial for establishing baseline energy utilization patterns and promoting sustainable energy practices in Ukrainian cities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough review of the operational characteristics of public buildings, including energy system specifications and maintenance procedures.
Engage with stakeholders through meetings and site visits to gather necessary information about the facility's energy usage.
Analyze existing documentation related to building operations, including architectural plans, maintenance logs, and utility bills.
Perform detailed inspections of energy-consuming processes within the facilities to assess their performance.
Formulate comprehensive energy audit reports that include background data, energy efficiency recommendations, and potential cost-saving measures.
Propose a range of energy-saving strategies, from low-cost interventions to more significant investments, aimed at reducing operational costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Collaborate with municipal authorities to ensure that the energy audits align with local energy efficiency goals and regulations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in energy management, engineering, or a related field. They should have experience in conducting energy audits and familiarity with energy efficiency technologies and practices. Knowledge of building systems, energy consumption analysis, and sustainability principles is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in engineering, energy management, environmental science, or a related field is required. A master's degree or professional certification in energy management or a similar discipline is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of energy systems and efficiency measures applicable to public buildings.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in energy auditing, energy management, or a related field. Experience working with public sector entities or in international development projects is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully conducting energy audits and implementing energy efficiency measures.
Languages: Fluency in Ukrainian and English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly Russian, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as a one-year contract with the possibility of extensions based on performance and project needs. The consultant will be engaged as an individual contractor and will be compensated in UAH. The role is full-time and requires the consultant to travel to various locations across Ukraine to conduct energy audits.
