Job Overview:

The intern will support the RCO in various operational tasks while gaining insights into the workings of the UN system and its development initiatives. This role is particularly focused on assisting with budget management, procurement processes, and the organization of meetings and workshops. The intern will work closely with UN technical staff, external partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and coordination. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about the UN's mission and contribute to its efforts in promoting sustainable development in Namibia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
  • Assisting in the management of the RCO budget by preparing reports and forecasts.
  • Supporting procurement processes by facilitating specifications and requests for quotations.
  • Organizing meetings and workshops for the RCO and UN inter-agency groups, coordinating with ICT services and the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS).
  • Following up on action points with UN technical staff and Personal Assistants of UN Heads of Agencies.
  • Liaising with external partners to set up meetings, including requests for incoming consultants and missions.
  • Taking minutes or providing read-outs during meetings when requested.
  • Making travel arrangements for RCO staff, incoming consultants, and related missions, including travel, accommodation, and induction.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be in their final academic year of a first degree, recently graduated, or enrolled in graduate school, majoring in business administration, finance, human resources, procurement, public administration, economics, or related fields. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also essential for this role.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to have completed or be in the final year of a relevant undergraduate degree or to be enrolled in a graduate program. Fields of study should include business administration, finance, human resources, procurement, public administration, economics, or related disciplines. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the administrative and management functions within the UN framework.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory for this internship, any relevant experience in administrative roles, project management, or involvement in student organizations will be considered an asset. Languages:
