The organization focuses on four main areas: Inclusive Livelihood and Resilience, Democratic Governance, Crisis Prevention and Recovery, and Environment and Energy for Sustainable Development. UNDP is committed to human rights protection and the empowerment of marginalized groups, including women, youth, and minorities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the development process.
Job Overview: The internship at UNDP Djibouti is designed to enhance the educational experience of graduate students by providing practical exposure to the operations and development projects of the organization. Interns will gain insights into the workings of a multilateral organization and understand UNDP Djibouti's goals and activities. The internship is set for a duration of six months, starting in mid-April 2024, and aims to equip interns with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute effectively to UNDP's mission. Interns will work under the supervision of the Operations Manager and will be involved in various administrative processes, ensuring high-quality service delivery and support to the office's operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will perform a variety of standard administrative tasks, including providing logistical support, arranging travel and hotel reservations, processing visa requests, and maintaining proper filing systems. They will assist in organizing conferences and workshops, support procurement processes, and manage office supplies. Additionally, interns will help with human resources services, including recruitment requests and orientation documentation for newcomers. They will also prepare invoices for common services and follow up on the implementation of recommendations from the Operations Management Team. The role requires collaboration with program staff, UN agencies, and the operations team to ensure consistent service delivery and effective communication.

Experience: Interns should have demonstrated the ability to work well both independently and as part of a multicultural team. Familiarity with information and communication technology is also required, as interns will be expected to utilize various software and tools to perform their duties effectively.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken French is mandatory, while fluency in English is desirable. This language proficiency is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external partners.
Additional Notes: The internship is unpaid, but a stipend will be provided to cover basic daily expenses such as meals and transportation, determined by the duty station's stipend rates. The stipend will be paid monthly, and part-time internship arrangements will be prorated accordingly. UNDP emphasizes its commitment to diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from individuals belonging to marginalized or excluded populations. The organization has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and misconduct, ensuring a safe and respectful working environment for all employees.
