Job Overview:
The Monitoring and Reporting Analyst position is crucial for improving data generation, program monitoring, result-based reporting, evaluation, and knowledge management within the UN Women Somalia Country Office. This role involves supporting the Somalia Country Office colleagues and implementing partners in aligning their work with the Strategic Note, ensuring effective data collection, monitoring, and reporting processes are integrated into program formulation and implementation. The Analyst will track programs against strategic targets, report results to various stakeholders, and enhance knowledge management practices. The position requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to ensure successful program implementation and capacity building.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical inputs to program formulation, ensuring monitoring and reporting are incorporated, including developing monitoring indicators and quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor and track results against country/regional targets and UN Women Strategic Plan, coordinating data collection and analysis across programs.
  • Facilitate reporting of results to internal and external audiences, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Implement the UN Women Evaluation Policy, coordinating evaluations and providing guidance to staff and partners.
  • Contribute to knowledge and capacity building by disseminating good practices and facilitating training opportunities.
  • Support other thematic areas as needed, ensuring comprehensive program support.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of program formulation, implementation, and Results Based Management. They should have good knowledge of monitoring and evaluation practices, including evaluation design, data collection, and reporting. Strong analytical and report writing skills are essential, along with the ability to synthesize program performance data. Familiarity with gender-responsive monitoring and evaluation standards is also required, as well as experience with UN system standards on Gender Equality.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Political or Social Science, Economics, International Development Studies, or Gender/Women's Studies is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) is an added advantage.

Experience:
At least 1 year of relevant experience at the national or international level in monitoring and reporting of development projects/programmes is required. Candidates should have a good understanding of program formulation and implementation, as well as gender-responsive monitoring and evaluation. Experience with data analysis, report writing, and the use of office software packages is essential. Familiarity with web-based management systems and ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Somali is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.
