Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Policy, Legislation and Governance Section (PLGS) of UN-Habitat is designed to assist in various aspects of urban policy, legislation, and governance. Interns will engage in a range of activities that contribute to the development and implementation of National Urban Policies, regulatory frameworks, and urban-rural linkages. The role involves working closely with experienced professionals to gain insights into urban management and governance while supporting the agency's strategic objectives and Sustainable Development Goals. Interns will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the ideals of the United Nations and contribute to the agency's mission of fostering sustainable urban development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will have a diverse set of responsibilities that may vary based on their background and assigned office. Key duties include assisting in the drafting of reports and background documents, reviewing audit recommendations, and maintaining filing systems for key documents. Interns will also support logistical arrangements for meetings and conferences, assist in processing travel-related requests, and help with vendor payments. Additional responsibilities include preparing presentation materials, coordinating with various service units, and maintaining accurate records of recruitment and payments. Interns will also be involved in knowledge management activities, including the development of tools and frameworks for urban governance and policy implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate program, be in the final year of a bachelor's degree program, or have completed a bachelor's, master's, or PhD program. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in the work of the United Nations and possess the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Preferred fields of study include Accounting, Finance, Commerce, and Business Administration. Experience in research, copy editing, communications, and project management is desirable, as is experience in organizing events and managing databases.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a relevant degree program, such as a bachelor's, master's, or PhD. The internship is particularly suited for students in their final year of study or recent graduates. Proof of enrollment or graduation will be required at a later stage of the application process. The internship is designed to provide practical experience in urban policy and governance, making it ideal for those pursuing careers in international development, urban planning, or public administration.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not mandatory for applicants to the UN Internship Programme, relevant academic experience or internships in fields related to urban policy, governance, or project management are advantageous. Languages:
