Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Capacity Development and Training Unit of the Programme Development Branch at UN-Habitat's Global Solutions Division. This role is designed to provide interns with a vibrant learning environment where they can contribute to significant projects aimed at enhancing sustainable urban development. Interns will engage in planning, designing, and managing capacity-building projects, conducting research, and writing technical papers. They will also work on enhancing the impact of capacity-building products through digital platforms and communication tools. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a global organization dedicated to improving urban living conditions and promoting sustainable practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Supporting the planning, design, and implementation of capacity-building projects at various levels.
Assisting in research activities, including literature reviews and data analysis for ongoing projects.
Drafting and editing technical documents, reports, and presentations.
Contributing to the design and implementation of training products, particularly e-learning courses.
Providing project management support, including tracking project activities and coordinating with stakeholders.
Collaborating with team members on various assignments to support the unit's work programme.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with a Bachelor's degree, Master's, PhD, or equivalent. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in standard software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, and demonstrate a strong interest in the work of the United Nations. They should also possess the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Educational Background: The preferred educational background includes a Master's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Education, Social Sciences, Geography, Public Administration, Business Administration, International Development, or a related field. Applicants must be students in their final year of study or have completed their degree at the time of application. A field of study closely related to the internship is essential, and candidates should provide proof of their academic status.
Experience: While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework related to project management, research, communication, e-learning, or webinar organization. Demonstrated skills in these areas will be beneficial for applicants.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this internship position, as it is the primary working language of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
