Job Overview: The National Coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination, management, and implementation of the Joint Programme (JP RWEE) in Tanzania. This role involves liaising with key stakeholders, including government representatives and senior staff from participating agencies, to ensure smooth program implementation. The National Coordinator will work closely with technical focal points from four participating agencies to build synergies and ensure effective communication and coordination among all parties involved. This position requires participation in global learning forums and coordination processes organized by the Global Coordination Unit, enabling the sharing of best practices and lessons learned. The National Coordinator will represent the Joint Programme in the country and will be based within the lead agency, WFP, reporting to the Head of Programmes while also being accountable to the Global Coordinator at WFP headquarters in Rome.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Coordinator will lead the coordination mechanisms of the JP RWEE, managing the program for both internal and external partners. Key responsibilities include organizing and leading monthly meetings with the Technical Working Group, National Steering Committee meetings, and multi-actor coordination platform meetings. The Coordinator will ensure that systems for program planning, implementation, and monitoring are in place, overseeing the development of annual work plans and budgets. They will address challenges to implementation, organize joint field visits, and work with the MEAL Coordinator to ensure that performance indicators are met. The Coordinator will also oversee the implementation of the M&E system, lead quarterly reviews, ensure timely reporting, and develop a knowledge management plan for the program. Additionally, they will supervise the MEAL Coordinator and identify opportunities for capacity building among partners.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong coordination skills, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, and the capacity to develop strong working relationships with partners and stakeholders. A strong understanding of gender equality and women's empowerment issues in relation to rural development and poverty alleviation is essential. Candidates should also have familiarity with sustainable development goals, particularly SDG5, and possess excellent drafting and reporting skills. The ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines is crucial for this role.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in International Development, gender studies, behavioral economics, sociology, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be accepted.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in women’s economic empowerment programming and gender equality is essential. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in managing and/or coordinating development programs, with a proven track record of working in multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Swahili is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.
